TATTOOS: FORM OR ART OR ''LITTER'' FOR OUR BODIES?

In the last twenty years, There's something I've noticed more and more with the passing of one generation to the next: The acceptance of tattoos and piercings into our culture. Twenty years ago, it was illegal for one to get a tattoo in New York state. Nowadays, that has changed and people seem to be expressing that more and more. Personally, i don't mind the idea of tattoos as long as it is something that means a lot to you and is not just there to impress anyone else that is not you. The worst thing I hate is when people get spouse names or names of boyfriends/girlfriends and just end up being a nasty reminder when they break up. It should be a serious commitment to get a tattoo, if at all. Some people I know can't stand tattoos and I don't see why. They call it ''littering'' of our bodies and that they will fade away and sag when you get older. I can see that argument, but I believe if it's something important to you and it looks nice at the same time and not to impress anybody, I don't see what's wrong with tattoos. The link below goes to an article explaining ''dangers'' of tattoos but it doesn't really go in depth the way i was hoping for. But back to my point: TATTOOS AREN'T BAD, AS LONG AS IT IS SOLELY FOR YOU AND TO NOT IMPRESS ANYONE ELSE.

  1. I agree tattoos aren't bad but sometimes they're just unnecessary. Some people can't get tattoos for religious reasons and some get them either way. I think tattoos are better small and discreet, rather than the huge ones that will make you look like a bad-ass 90 year old in the future. People are probably better off with piercings, I don't think they're against any religions and you can always change your mind and take them out. Overall it really depends on a person's perceptions of body art.
