FORMSPRING: A PLACE FOR QUESTIONS OR HUMILITY

It's amazing nowadays how all these ''social networking'' sites came about.First there was Myspace, which was all the rage from 2003 to about late 2008.Now there's Facebook, which is pretty much the popular thing now among everybody. The most recent sites to come about were Twitter, a way of ''texting'' among celebrities and other people, and the very newest one to come about- Formspring. Formspring is a place where people can anonymously leave questions on a person's page.Copy and paste the URL below this post to see what Formspring looks like. I don't really like the idea of it, as Formspring is used more or less as an outlet to make fun of people. Becuase of this, many people get upset and then delete their accounts. The bad thing about it too is that some people have their Formspring and Facebook accounts connected and all Formspring posts also appear on Facebook. I truthfully don't know what the purpose of Formspring even really is.But I also wonder how stupid people can be to create one, then get upset when ANONYMOUS people ask them questions to insult them, and end up deleting them from all the drama. I have not and will not ever make a Formspring account, as it will just result in humility. Why sites like this even exist is beyond me. Is it worth providing a place for people to make fun of other people? I don't think Formspring will last around too much longer, there's just too many problems arising from this site. Unless Formspring changes its ways, it will ''die out'' in the next two to three years.

  1. Formsprings...thanks for explaining that.I was wondering why alot of people have q and a on thier profiles. I think it is kinda ridilicous the answers that I saw on thier profile. So ya I hope this formsprings is shut soon cause it can lead to an inncendent like this kid who was facebook commited suicide for a reason with the mother of this girl he liked.

  2. I agree with you entirely. I think people post on others Formspring's for one of two reasons. They either want to be annoying or make wise remarks, or they do not have the courage to speak openly to the person face to face. I do not see the point in Formspring. What is the good of hearing or being asked something if you do no know who you are answering to? It is much better to talk face to face.

  3. The amount of privacy one can have is decreasing slowly with these sites. With Facebook and Formspring and Twitter everyone knows what goes on in the other person's life. And it becomes an addicition when people watch every little thing that happens. I can say for a fact from personal experience that people even ask why you added a certain person as a friend. I made Facebook to interact with my friends not so that my other friends can rule my lives. It's extremely disheartning.

  4. Im sry but to an extent i disagree. Formspring is a site for fun, just as any new site nowadays. I believe that any web site you go on; whether it is facebook, myspace, or formspring, ther is always going to be the danger of humility. Thats why on formspring you have the choice wheather to answer the questions you are asked. No one is forcing anyone to answer a question that you may believe is humiliating to you.

  5. I agree with your way of thinking, simply because I disagree with such sites entirely. I think people misinterpret the purpose of such sites and abuse their power. While many of these sites were made so a person can express themselves to the world, many people use the sites for a different purpose. Humility is very common to find as a result of a site like Formspring. I have never made such an account because I know how cruel people can be, and mostly because they don't use the sites to give constructive criticism, but rather to verbally abuse one another.

  6. I do not have a formspring account and never will. I dont seem to see the need for one. People that have one are crazy because by having one your basically just asking people to tell you whats wrong with you, and I think I already know whats wrong with me, I dont need people to tell me. In the first place formspring was supposed to be for people to ask people normal questions anonymously that maybe they might want to know about the person. Howeveer many people abuse it and just write nasty comments and get agrevated over it for no reason. Ive heard someone say that at some highschool there was 3 fist fights just because of something related with formspring which I think is pretty pathetic !
